Management Training Bureau (MTB) is a government organization under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, established in 1984 under the Zimbabwean Manpower Development Act (Chapter 28:02). MTB has now been strategically repositioned through Statutory Instrument 78 of 2020 (S.I 78) as a National Strategic Institution in the provision of national capabilities in critical skills shortage areas.

In 2018, MTB adopted a new strategic direction to steer the institution into a world class national strategic institution that provides national capabilities in lifelong skills for the production of goods and services to industrialise and modernise Zimbabwe, in line with the National Vision 2030, as pronounced by His Excellency, The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr. E D. Mnangagwa.

The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development was set out to contribute to the modernisation and industrialisation of Zimbabwe through education, science, and technology development – Education 5.0. The Ministry is therefore calling for a heritage philosophy-based education system that produces goods and services that are useful to the economy; an education delivered conscious of the environment it seeks to transform. Against this background, MTB is positioned as a heritage-based centre of excellence for lifelong learning i.e., Learning, Literacy in Technology and Life Skills.

MTB focuses on 3 key pillars of management training namely:

  • Business, Strategy, Leadership, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Research.
  • International Business Languages and Diplomacy.
  • Information Communication Technology and Innovation Management.

Human capital development interventions under these 3 pillars are offered at various levels within organisations i.e., at Executive, Managerial, Supervisory and Graduate Trainee levels.

In addition, MTB has a vibrant hospitality section which offers modern, high quality conferencing facilities and services.
